The threat to Greenlanders remains after Landry uninvited visited Greenland.
On Sunday the 17th of May, he and an American delegation arrived with both MAGA hats and chocolate coins, which he handed out to locals. Danish Radio has captured a moment with Landry, where he tells a couple of Greenlandic children that they can have "as many chocolate cookies as they want” if they visit his mansion in the state of Louisiana, where he is governor.
Greenland's leader, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, tells Danish Radio that the country's red lines remain the same, "No matter how many chocolate cookies we get."
“It's been no more than three months since we looked into a threat of invasion. That's why it's a bit surprising that he comes and hands out chocolates and caps and says we should be friends”, says Christian Keldsen, CEO of Greenland Business Association.
"It's time for the United States to put its footprint back on Greenland," Landry said, shortly before he was scheduled to leave the country on Wednesday evening.
